Rejuvenation of the Female Genitalia- or "The Scoop on Designer Privates"

Have you heard the buzz now surrounding procedures designed to rejuvenate the female genitalia- and therefore your love life?

It used to be that if a woman wanted to add a little spice to her love life, she might buy some new lingerie, learn a few new bedroom techniques or even pay a visit to an adult toy store. Modern plastic surgery now allows women a new and innovative route to boost self-esteem and please their partner: They're having “intimate” makeovers!

"Vaginal Rejuvenation" procedures give women a chance to tune-up below the belt and either tighten those areas that may have been changed by childbirth, or to just enhance those that Mother Nature made asymmetrical or a little less than perfect. These issues can also cause many women to experience pain or discomfort during sex or while wearing certain types of clothing.

“Vaginal Rejuvenation” actually refers to two types of surgery that can help with these concerns: Vaginoplasty, which involves tightening of the vaginal canal, and Labiaplasty, which involves trimming uneven, asymmetric, droopy, bulky [or] discolored labia that a woman might find unsightly or uncomfortable.

While some of you may cringe at the idea of someone re-sculpting their most sensitive spots, statistics show that procedures such as these are trending upward rapidly. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported fewer than 800 vaginal rejuvenations in 2005, but by 2009, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery tallied more than 2,500 annually.

"Things were not right down there," said a 36-year-old Lansdowne mother of three who said that she also suffered post-childbirth urinary incontinence. "Sexually, I was blank-feeling. Now, my vaginal area feels like I'm a teenager, really. It's like back to its original state. I'm so glad I did it." This experience is typical for patients in our Orlando Plastic Surgery and Skin Care Center as well.

Let’s face the facts ladies, it’s no secret that most women have or will have to experience this at some point in their lives! Whether it is something you are born with, caused by age or childbirth, there is no reason to feel ashamed or embarrassed about this sort of thing. Why NOT do something about it if you can make a change that will leave you looking and feeling your best both physically and sexually?
Feel GOOD about yourself!
