Sammy Sosa got Some bad advice

Wow! Poor Sammy Sosa- it looks like he had been in the plastic surgeon's chair too long.

From the looks of it, he's had a deep chemical peel or laser resurfacing treatment, possibly eyelid surgery, and possibly lip augmentation. He looks a bit scary and feminine, and the color just doesn't look right, huh?

Hopefully his eyes and lips are just a bit swollen and still healing, and hopefully in time he will achieve the natural outcome he wanted- but you would think he wouldn't have posed for this photo until he thought he had achieved his optimal outcome, eh?

As for his skin color, the fact is that skin resurfacing in a patient whose skin is as dark as Sammy's was can be a bit tricky. It's very important to find someone with a lot of experience treating dark skinned people, and to be sure they use a technology or treatment unlikely to give you this problem. For example, I personally would always recommend that rather than use a more traditional technique for laser resurfacing in a patient with darker skin, that we use a fractionated technology like the Mixto laser (which is what we have at my Orlando Surgery and Aesthetic Center). By fractionating the energy delivered to the skin, the risk of changing the color of someone's skin is minimized.

I feel badly for him- even with the steroid thing hanging over his head, I always liked Sammy and felt he was a nice guy. It looks like a couple of bad decisions are now going to have his photo circulating on all the same sites you might find photos of Kenny Rogers, Burt Reynolds, and Carrot Top.

Do you know other examples of previously attractive people who appear to have made bad choices at the "Aesthetic Surgery Counter"? Send me your thoughts and I'll post photos for discussion.
